Mission Statement
To equip students with the knowledge of how Business Data Events (BDEs) are used by Avaloq applications such as Community APIs to consumer ACP information and updates.
Course description
The BDE system is a generic facility that can generate information from ACP to be consumed by other applications.
In this course (previously known as CAPI Under the Hood), we use the Avaloq Community APIs as an example of an application that uses BDEs. The Community APIs (CAPI) are a set of off-the-shelf API endpoints that can be used by applications and back-end services to retrieve and update ACP data.
This is a one-day virtual workshop course.
First, you'll review the architecture used for Community APIs and understand the deployment process, then understand the role of the different OpenShift microservices and how and why they talk to each other.
You'll go into detail about the BDE mechanisms used to create the Community API read cache and keep it up to date including triggering tables, BDE producers, and how the Kafka message streaming platform transports the BDEs in near real-time to consuming applications.
Finally, you'll learn how to make enquiries to give you an insight into what is happening with the system using tools such as Kafka CLI to create, view and understand some test BDEs.
